Public Relations Manager
Department: Adoption
Classification: Full time, Exempt
Job relationship: Reports to Executive Director (ED), works side by side with Volunteer Program Manager and ED for event planning and execution.
Work Hours: 40 hours typically Monday through Friday; however, this position does have varying working days and hours depending on the needs. During event season, Tuesday – Saturday.
Position Summary: The Public Relations Manager will support the ED in all aspects of public relations, marketing, and community outreach.
Essential Duties and Functions
· Develops strategic and annual community engagement plans in collaboration with the ED
· Establishes realistic project plans, timelines, milestones, and success indicators for community engagement activities
· Creates custom content designed to boost the SPCA’s community engagement and overall image.
· Develops engaging visual and audio content to further the agenda of community engagement as it pertains to the SPCA of Brevard
· Works with ED for fundraising and donor engagement
· Maintains adoption center and doggie daycare websites
· Community Outreach:
o Coordinate the development and implementation of community outreach activities that ensure high visibilities, brand recognition, and regular exposure of the SPCA of Brevard in the community.
o Ensure that the SPCA of Brevard is represented in a professional manner to the public at all times.
· Responsible for all aspects of the SPCA of Brevard merchandise sales both online and at the stores (adoption center and thrift stores when requested)
o T-shirt ordering/folding, inventory, sales
· Responsible for updating photos and videos of shelter pets for Shelterluv and social media
· Responsible for creating copy/content for social media as well as email marketing
· Assist with the copying and distribution of event fliers and maintaining inventory for SPCA brochures, swag, etc.
· Assist with event management to include:
o Main contact for community event requests
o Outreach to sponsors and donors
o Creating auction/raffle baskets
o Setup and attendance at events
· Responsible to be the main contact for all media
o Must be comfortable being on television, radio, and on stage
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

· High School diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· 1-3 years of community engagement or public relations experience
Knowledge and Skills
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to motivate and inspire people
· Knowledge of (or ability to learn) current animal welfare issues
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Ability to prepare detailed and correct written work
· Strong customer service skills
· Ability to use judgement and discretion
· Working knowledge of Canva, Squarespace, and Mail Chimp
· Proficient knowledge of social media platforms
· Ability to learn fundraising software (currently Network for Good and Fundraise Up)
· Must have compassion and concern for both animals and people
Working Environment/Conditions
· Indoors in air-conditioned/heated office, outdoors at shelter, or on-location for various activities
· Equipment use includes use of PC, smart phone, laser printer, copy machine, and telephone
Mental Demands
Must have the ability to multi task, prioritize and occasionally handle high levels of stress. Position requires excellent organizational skills, as well as high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be dependable and have proven ability to meet deadlines. Self-starter with ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions without need of constant support.
