Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI)—a two-time USA Today Top Workplaces awardee and Washington Top Workplaces honoree—is seeking a Release Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will lead release management planning, coordination, and execution across multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs) supporting a complex PeopleSoft platform in a federal environment. This role focuses on integrated release planning, dependency management, environment readiness, deployment governance, cutover coordination, risk management, and production stabilization for PeopleSoft HCM and related enterprise capabilities. The ideal candidate will combine strong release management discipline with PeopleSoft platform understanding, structured communication, and the ability to drive alignment across technical teams, business stakeholders, and operations partners.

Work Location: Hybrid (on-site in Arlington, VA as scheduled, remaining days remote)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end release management activities across multiple ARTs supporting PeopleSoft HCM and related enterprise systems, including release planning, coordination, scheduling, execution, and post-release follow-through.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated release calendar, release milestones, deployment windows, and dependency trackers across application, infrastructure, database, security, testing, and support teams.
  • Coordinate release scope, readiness, and sequencing for enhancements, fixes, tax updates, PeopleTools changes, interfaces, batch processes, security changes, and production support items moving across environments.
  • Facilitate release governance activities including release planning meetings, readiness reviews, change control coordination, go/no-go assessments, cutover planning, rollback planning, and stakeholder communications.
  • Work closely with product owners, scrum masters, release train engineers, developers, testers, infrastructure teams, and client stakeholders to identify dependencies, remove blockers, and ensure release commitments are realistic and traceable.
  • Track release risks, issues, decisions, and action items; escalate appropriately and drive resolution to protect production stability, schedule adherence, and business continuity.
  • Ensure environment readiness and deployment discipline across development, test, staging, and production, including coordination of code migrations, configuration changes, data moves, approvals, and validation activities.
  • Develop and maintain release runbooks, checklists, status reporting, release notes, lessons learned, and operational handoff materials to improve repeatability, auditability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 5 years of experience in release management, deployment management, or environment coordination for enterprise applications; experience supporting PeopleSoft HCM or similar ERP platforms preferred.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating complex releases across multiple teams or ARTs, including release planning, dependency management, cutover execution, change control, production readiness, and post-release stabilization.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, testing cycles, migration practices, configuration management, and release governance; experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar work tracking and reporting tools preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one; experience supporting federal or other highly regulated environments preferred.

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft HCM release cycles, PeopleTools updates, PUM image adoption, tax/regulatory changes, interfaces, batch processing, and the operational considerations of enterprise ERP releases.
  • Experience supporting SAFe or other scaled agile delivery models, including coordination across multiple ARTs, synchronized planning cadences, release trains, and cross-team dependency management.
  • Knowledge of release runbooks, deployment checklists, go/no-go criteria, rollback planning, change management, incident management, and production support practices that reduce release risk and improve stability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, client leadership, and operations personnel, including presentation of release status, readiness, risks, and recommendations.
