What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meter Reader Asheville, NC position at Sparus Holdings?
What You Will Do
Individuals will be responsible for using a data driven approach, gathering data from residential and commercial gas meters for our customers. Meter reads are collected by driving by customer locations. The “reads” are downloaded into the data driven computer system mounted in the vehicle. Daily “reads” will be uploaded to the utility’s server for metering and billing processes. This position is primarily a driving position; however, employees may be required to get out of the vehicle to provide a "visual read”. This would require walking to the meter, providing a visual read and uploading to a handheld device. Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Earn
Wages: $17.00 per hour.

Physical Requirements
Bending, crouching, kneeling, and walking several miles per day; carry up to 20lbs of equipment; be able to effectively communicate with customers in a courteous manner displaying excellent customer service and perform other duties as assigned; Performs all work in a safe manner; Observes and follows all company/client procedures; Possess excellent customer service/communication skills; Be available for overtime (which may include weekends); Be comfortable using computers/technology.

Main Duties
- Reading meters and entering readings into handheld computers.
- Prior meter reading experience helpful but not required.
- Extensive driving throughout Statesville, NC., metro and surrounding areas.
- Meet strict deadlines for completing meter reading routes.
- No experience necessary, paid training is provided.
- Ability to walk in all types of terrain.
- Work in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to deal with wildlife and animals is required.
- Must possess a valid, unexpired driver's license
- H.S. Diploma or GED equivalency required
- Proficient in using technology
- Adherence to safety requirements & have customer service experience
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and walking several miles per day
