HOURS: 40 hours per week
Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Flexibility is required for occasional nights and weekends to accommodate outreach and community events.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Selects books and other library materials for homebound patrons
- Handles all circulation (checking out and in materials, placing holds, etc,) for homebound patrons
- Delivers materials to patrons in a library vehicle or by mail
- Provides patron assistance in person, over the phone, and via email
- Maintains electronic records, information, and statistics regarding homebound services
- Participates in the Outreach Department’s community events
- Substitutes at branches, departments, and on the Bookmobile as needed
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Enjoys reading and suggesting titles to others
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills that display a positive attitude and the ability to interact with people from all backgrounds and age groups
- Strong technology skills and the ability to work with a variety of devices and software
- Attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Highly flexible with the ability to adapt to change
- Organized with good time management and communication skills
- Ability to take direction and to work independently or in a team environment
- SCPL uses multi-factor authentication for network and program access. Employees may be required to use their personal device for MFA.
- Driver’s license valid in the State of South Carolina with the ability to drive to other libraries or community outreach
