ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
JOB TITLE: Digitization Assistant, Grade 19

HOURS: 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
(Note: Must be able to accommodate schedule changes for programs on nights and weekends.)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promote archival and digital collections through outreach events and programs, especially in historically underrepresented communities throughout Spartanburg County
- Operate library vehicles, including the Digitization Van
- Perform scanning of archival materials in various formats according to established archival protocols
- Work on transcriptions for digitized items
- Instruct patrons and staff on use of library resources and equipment
- Occasionally fill-in at the public service desk in the Local History Department
- Work with a variety of software and library automation programs
- Perform related tasks as required
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience using digitization equipment, such as flat-bed scanners and A/V conversion equipment
- Strong communication skills and comfortable speaking with individuals and in front of groups
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills that display a positive attitude and cultural sensitivity to engage with people from all backgrounds and age groups
- Attention to detail with a strong work ethic and good time management and organizational skills
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change
- Ability to take direction and to work independently or on teams
- SCPL uses multi-factor authentication for network and program access. Employees may be required to use their personal device for MFA.
- Must be in possession of valid South Carolina driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle independently.
