HOURS: 40 hours per week
Week A & D: Monday & Tuesday 8:30am-5:30pm, Wednesday 11:15am-8:15pm, Thursday& Friday 9:15 am - 6:15pm
Week B: Monday & Tuesday 8:30am-5:30pm, Wednesday 11:15am-8:15pm, Thursday 9:00am-6:15pm, Friday OFF, Saturday 9:45 am 5:15 pm
Week C: Sunday 12:15 pm - 5:15 pm, Monday OFF, Tuesday 8:30am-5:30pm, Wednesday 11:15am-8:15pm, Thursday & Friday 9:00am-6:15pm
(Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes may be asked to work other times)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and experience with children or equivalent combination of education and experience with children.

Essential Functions
- Plans, promotes, and presentscreative and innovativeprogramsthat meet the needs offamilies andchildren,birth through age twelve,including story times, homeschool programs, and other special events and summer reading activities
- IncorporatesThe Palmetto Basics andEveryChild Ready to Read concepts into programs and environments for children ages 0-5
- Tracks and submits program statistics
- Actively engages the public duringcommunity outreachprogramsin the local area schools,childcarecenters,orother public spaces orspecial events
- Responsible for maintaining an attractivechildren’s area in the library including collections, displays, signage and bulletin boards
- Participates in department meetings, assigned committee meetings, online discussions, and book reviews
- Provides superior customer service when assistingpatrons of all ages with informationand reader’s advisoryrequests, computers, digital devices, and other library equipment
- Completesregular training related to children’s services andotherlibrary work
- Remains aware of safety and securityat all times
- Substitutes for other programs, departments, and branches as needed
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experiencewith children or equivalent combination of education and experience with children
- Comfortable and proficient using technology
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills that display a positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, a sense of humor, withthe ability to interface with people from all backgrounds and age groups
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Creative, flexible and organized with good time management skillsand attention to detail
- Ability to take direction and work independently or in a team environment
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to take initiative
- Experience working with children from birth through age 12 with strong knowledge of children’s literature

- Driver’s license valid in the State of South Carolina with the ability to drive to other libraries or community outreach
