What are the responsibilities and job description for the HS Intern- Paid position at SPARTANBURG ACADEMIC MOVEMENT?
SAM is offering a paid summer internship to a graduating senior who lives in Spartanburg County. The internship will offer the student an opportunity to gain practical work experience and learn about the nonprofit sector with a focus on youth services, engagement, and partnerships.
The internship will be a hybrid position beginning June 2026 Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. The intern’s actual scheduled hours can be flexible and determined on what works best for the intern and the staff of SAM.
Qualifications:EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

2026-2027 rising high school senior, or

2025-2026 graduating high school senior
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following):
- Attending external meetings (i.e., partner meetings, community task force meetings, training) with staff to learn about the nonprofit sector.
- Visiting summer program partners and assisting with youth program activities
- Capturing youth voice during summer activities and assisting with reporting/marketing
- Reviewing content for the Youth Philanthropy Board and providing input for the 2024-2025 school year
- Assisting with training for the Center for Resilient Schools and Communities and data collection
- Conducting online research on adolescent programs, services, best practices, AI and student advising to support SAM’s youth engagement and post-secondary strategies
- Collecting feedback and providing input on increasing FAFSA completion to support post-secondary success
- Shadowing internal departments to learn about nonprofit operations
