Duties
- Set up and operate traffic control devices such as cones, signs, and barriers to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely through work zones
- Use hand signals, flags, or stop/slow paddles to communicate with drivers and pedestrians effectively
- Monitor traffic patterns and adjust control measures as needed to prevent accidents or congestion
- Collaborate with construction crews, site supervisors, and safety personnel to coordinate traffic flow
- Ensure all traffic control equipment is properly maintained, positioned, and compliant with safety regulations
- Assist with site cleanup and resetting of traffic control devices at the end of shifts
- Maintain clear documentation of daily activities, incidents, or hazards observed on-site
Experience
- Prior experience in construction site safety or traffic control is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, front loader trucks, dump trucks, graders, or paving machinery is a plus
- Knowledge of utility locating techniques and basic construction procedures enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety protocols
- Strong communication skills to clearly direct traffic and coordinate with team members
- Valid certification in flagging or traffic control (preferred but not required; training available)
- Experience working on construction sites or in environments involving heavy machinery operation such as Caterpillar equipment is advantageous
