Job Description:
Pool Technicians are responsible for cleaning, vacuuming, and maintaining swimming pools, spas, and related equipment to ensure safe and clean conditions for customers. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent customer service. Technicians will handle equipment setup, system start‑ups, winterization, cover installation/removal, and detailed inspections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain opening/closing steps, recommend products or services, and address concerns.
- Maintain accurate service records including chemicals used, equipment serviced, and customer notes.
- Ensure all work meets health, safety, and company standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, water testing, and chemical balancing.
- Inspect pumps, filters, heaters, and other pool equipment and refer any necessary repairs to the appropriate department.
- Troubleshoot and fix issues related to water quality and flow.
- Install new pool equipment and systems when necessary.
- Provide recommendations for maintenance schedules and upgrades.
- Season Openings
- Remove pool covers and properly clean, fold, and store them.
- Reassemble and start up pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters, and automation systems.
- Install ladders, handrails, fittings, and accessories.
- Perform water testing, chemical balancing, and shock treatments as needed.
- Inspect equipment for leaks, damage, or irregular performance and refer repairs as needed.
- Ensure the system is functioning
- Seasonal Closings
- Thoroughly clean pool and remove all accessories.
- Lower water levels to appropriate winterization depths.
- Winterize plumbing lines using air blow‑outs and antifreeze as required.
- Disassemble equipment or components per manufacturer recommendations.
- Install winter covers securely and safely.
- Document any issues requiring off‑season repair or follow‑up.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education
- High school diploma or GED; required
- License to operate a vehicle and heavy machinery, required
Experience
- 2 years of experience in pool industry, preferred
- On the job training will be proved
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of pool maintenance and equipment; preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions:
- Primarily outside in the elements
Pay:
- Hourly; based on experience
Position Type:
- Full-Time: Monday – Friday; 7:30-5:00 (extended hours during peak season)
- Availability for seasonal overtime; required
- Occasional weekends; emergency situations only
