Position Summary
The Healthcare Financial Controller oversees the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and financial stability. This role manages accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls within a healthcare environment such as hospitals, clinics, or healthcare systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial close processes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with healthcare accounting standards and regulations
- Develop and maintain financial reporting systems for leadership
2. Budgeting, Reporting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting process across departments
- Develop financial forecasts and long-term strategic financial plans
- Monitor departmental performance against budgets
- Provide variance analysis and recommendations
- Compile reports and metrics as requested by CEO & CFO (summary analysis of raw data)
3. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets
4. Revenue Cycle & Reimbursement Oversight
- Monitor billing, coding, and collections processes
- Oversee reimbursement reporting related to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- Analyze payer mix and reimbursement trends
- Collaborate with revenue cycle management & Billing teams
- Accounts receivable and invoice management for outside facilities and vendors
5. Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise accounting and finance staff
- Provide mentorship and professional development
- Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership
- Support executive decision-making with financial insights
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- CPA required
Experience
- 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- 3 years in healthcare finance (hospital, clinic, or healthcare system preferred)
- Experience with healthcare reimbursement models and cost reporting
Skills & Competencies
- QuickBooks expert
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and healthcare regulations
- Financial analysis and strategic planning skills
- Proficiency in healthcare financial systems and ERP software
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Pay: $69,754.88 - $84,005.88 per year
