General Summary
The Central Melt Technician is responsible for ensuring quality metal makes it to the machines safely and on time to support production. The Central Melt Technician will ensure appropriate procedures are performed while using the central melt furnaces, sludging, degassing, preheating crucibles, holding furnaces, pour boxes and maintenance as required. This requires working closely with production and maintenance to ensure the metal is there and usable when needed.

General Summary
The Central Melt Technician is responsible for ensuring quality metal makes it to the machines safely and on time to support production. The Central Melt Technician will ensure appropriate procedures are performed while using the central melt furnaces, sludging, degassing, preheating crucibles, holding furnaces, pour boxes and maintenance as required. This requires working closely with production and maintenance to ensure the metal is there and usable when needed.
Job Duties
- Safely deliver quality metal to the furnaces on time
- Identify and address any issues that may prevent the diecast machines from receiving a consistent supply of metal.
- Maintains quality checks and records as needed.
- Ensure smooth floor operations, including performing sludging tasks as required.
- Make sure central melt furnaces are at correct temperature.
- Ability to identify issues and contact appropriate team members.
- Follow operator and work instructions required for sludging / degassing, and metal delivery.
- Identify areas for improvement and bring them to supervisor.
- Trains new associates as needed to safely perform operations duties.
- Receive cross-training with Mag Remelt as needed for backup support.
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Forklift license
