General Summary
Performs human resources generalist duties which includes, onboarding, employee relations, performance management and counseling, pay administration, policy and procedure interpretation and department administration activities.
As a Human Resources Department team member, participates in the attainment of department and company goals and demonstrates Spartan’s Core Operating Values through work activities, actions and behaviors.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Leads and performs performance management activities, including corrective actions and counselings and performance reviews for hourly employees.
- Handles pay administration for hourly employees, including pay-progression and pay rate changes.
- Manages and performs employee benefit education, enrollment activities, and maintenance in benefit administration system.
- Leads and performs the on-boarding processes and new employee orientation.
- Provides support to employees and management by providing answers to questions and resolution to issues and problems in the areas of, plant-specific policies and procedures, company policy compliance, benefits and pay, attendance, and general human resources and plant-specific questions.
- Handles the maintenance and organization of employee and department records/files, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality. Handles department report preparation and generation, as required.
- Manages the performance and activities of uniform vendor, including weekly account reconciliation. Ensures timely delivery of uniforms and resolution of quality issues.
- Handles the processing of unemployment claims, ensuring timely submission of Spartan’s response.
- Provides guidance to HR Administrator and assistance to HR Manager.
- Evaluates and makes recommendation to HR Manager for department changes/improvement.
- Collaborates with HR team in event planning and execution for plant-sponsored events and benefits-related events. Ensures successful communications, promotions and execution of events.
- Performs all job activities and functions in compliance with legal regulations, plant-specific procedures, and company policies and procedures. Ensures confidentiality is maintained in all required areas.
- Contributes to and supports the existence of a positive work environment through personal involvement by communicating, interacting and behaving in a manner that promotes productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, customers, vendors and others with whom such relationships are important to the success of company operations.
- Performs other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- 8 years progressive experience in Human Resources
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business
- Professional Human Resources designation, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
- Prior experience in manufacturing or distribution environment
