The Technician is responsible for performing skilled mechanical work on heavy trucks, diesel equipment, and specialized fire and emergency apparatus. This role includes diagnosing malfunctions, conducting repairs, and completing full rebuilds on units such as pumps, compressors, generators, and other critical emergency response components. The Technician will inspect, dismantle, repair, and reassemble vehicles or equipment using appropriate tools, ensuring all work meets safety and performance standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Analyze malfunctions and perform repairs on heavy trucks and diesel equipment.
  • Rebuild and maintain fire and emergency equipment, including units, pumps, compressors, and generators.
  • Responsible for mechanical work in the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of fire apparatus, and emergency medical vehicles.
  • Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose discrepancies and issues.
  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble vehicles or equipment using hand tools and hoists.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using precision measuring equipment.
  • Repair, rebuild, and overhaul components such as gearboxes, transfer cases, differentials, water, and hydraulic pumps.
  • Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Document repairs, track labor, and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Perform welding on broken parts and structural components
