Sub Varsity Boys Basketball Coach- High School

Sparta High School is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated coaches to lead and support
our Sub-Varsity Boys Basketball program. These
individuals will work closely with the varsity head coach, athletic director, and student-athletes to help build a positive, competitive, and player-centered basketball culture.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan and lead all practices, team meetings, and competitions for the JV, Freshman, and
Middle School teams
Collaborate with the Varsity Head Coach to ensure alignment in program philosophy, skill
development, and game strategy
Build strong relationships with student-athletes while promoting sportsmanship,
accountability, and personal growth
Communicate effectively with players, families, and school staff
Supervise student-athletes during all team activities, ensuring safety and appropriate
conduct
Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, emphasizing academic success
and character development

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous coaching or playing experience in basketball (high school or college level
preferred)
Demonstrated ability to teach fundamentals and develop players at various skill levels
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Completion of MHSAA required coaching certifications (or willingness to complete)
