What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Sub - Spanish position at Sparta High School?

Sparta High School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Long-Term Substitute Spanish Teacher to cover a maternity leave. The ideal candidate will be passionate about language education, confident teaching a range of Spanish levels, and able to work effectively with the world language team to ensure a smooth transition for students.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teach AP Spanish Language and Culture, Spanish 1, and Spanish 2, following established curriculum and academic standards.

  • Utilize technology effectively, including PowerSchool and Schoology to manage assignments, communicate with students, and maintain accurate records.

  • Collaborate regularly with the Spanish department to align instruction, assessments, and pacing.

  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners.

  • Communicate consistently and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.

  • Complete all typical teacher responsibilities, including grading, attendance, and supervision duties.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or active Substitute Permit required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience teaching high school Spanish strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with AP Spanish Language and Culture curriculum is a plus.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

  • Comfortable using digital tools for instruction, communication, and record-keeping.
