What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Special Education Program Teacher Assistant position at Sparta Early Childhood Center?
Qualifications/Description:
- Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Act—Associate’s Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading, and a 3 or better in writing on the Work Keys test.
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- Ability to be responsible for all student self-care including mobility in a wheelchair;
- Ability to physically attend to student needs, including personal care, diapering and/or toileting, transfers to and from wheelchair, tube feeding, medication administration (oral, rectal and through gastric tube), augmentative communication, assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus unloading, and lunchroom supervision, as necessary;
- Basic computer skills preferred;
- Ukeru and/or CPI trained preferred;
- Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes;
- Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members;
- Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner;
- Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork and organization;
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
- Hard Working and team player.
