What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Interventionist position at Sparta Area School District?
Appleview Elementary is seeking a dedicated, organized, and student-centered Behavior Interventionist. This individual will play a key role in supporting students who have been temporarily removed from class, helping them reflect on their behavior through restorative practices and guiding them back into the learning environment. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to hold students accountable with respect and consistency, and the initiative to work independently while contributing to the overall success of our school community.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintaining a calm, structured, and respectful environment in our Success Center.- Implement restorative practices with students to address the root causes of behavior and develop action plans for successful reintegration into class.
- Provide positive behavioral support and mentoring to students, focusing on relationship-building and personal responsibility.
- Communicate regularly with staff, administration, and families about student progress and needs.
- Remain flexible and willing to jump in wherever help is needed to ensure students are supported and engaged in learning.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary particularly in behavioral or support roles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build respectful, constructive relationships with students and staff.
- Proven ability to manage student behavior effectively and consistently, while remaining calm and solution-focused.
- Highly organized and self-motivated; able to manage time and tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Training or experience in restorative practices, PBIS, or trauma-informed care is a plus.
