Position Overview
We are seeking an Equipment Automation Engineer to support Applied Materials in Santa Clara, CA. This role will focus on implementing and supporting Equipment Automation (EA) solutions integrated with factory and business systems in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in semiconductor, solar, display, or PCB manufacturing equipment automation and strong technical expertise in SECS/GEM, SEMI standards, C#, .NET, SQL, and factory automation systems.
- Key ResponsibilitiesImplement Equipment Automation (EA) solutions integrated with factory and business systems for customers
- Support EA solutions and help establish an offshore support model in APAC
- Work closely with teams beyond EA, including MES and Tool Software teams, to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Coordinate with customer IT and systems administration teams for deployment, configuration, development, and support of EA solutions
- Present technical information to both technical teams and management
- Develop and deliver training materials, demos, and application knowledge transfer
- Contribute to and manage the knowledge base/documentation
- Engage deeply with internal stakeholders, end users, and customer teams
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as:
- 8D
- Six Sigma
- Kaizen
- 5 Whys
- Required Skills & ExperienceExperience working as an Equipment Automation Developer/Engineer in Semiconductor, Solar, Display, or PCB manufacturing
- Strong understanding of SECS/GEM protocol and SEMI automation standards
- Experience with factory automation and business systems such as:
- MES
- Recipe Management System (RMS)
- Advanced Process Control (APC)
- Hands-on proficiency with:
- C#
- .NET
- Visual Studio
- SQL / Databases
- Additional Functional KnowledgeExperience working with enterprise automation software on Windows or Unix platforms
- Familiarity with Oracle databases
- Strong understanding of software deployment and support in manufacturing environments
- Ability to work across cross-functional technical teams and customer-facing environments
- QualificationsBS or MS degree in an Engineering discipline
- Experience in factory operations / manufacturing operations preferred.
