What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traveling Science Teacher – Astronomy Presenter! position at SparkPoint Innovations?
Love Teaching Science? Need a Flexible Schedule? Want to Make a BIG Impact?
SparkPoint Innovations is looking for an enthusiastic educator to lead our in-school astronomy experience, Orbit Earth Expo, in elementary and middle schools across the Atlanta metro area. If you love teaching, enjoy working with kids, and want a high-energy, flexible role that fits around your life, this could be a perfect opportunity!
What You’ll Do:
- Teach engaging, hands-on astronomy programs in schools (K-8)—no lesson planning or grading required!
- Travel to schools (typically within a three-hour radius of your home). Some visits may include overnight stays (paid by the company).
- Set up and break down materials (requires lifting 30-50 lbs).
- Actively reach out to schools to book your own programs—the more schools you bring in, the more work you get!
- Help spread the word by attending conferences and promoting Orbit Earth Expo.
What We Offer:
- $400 per teaching day, plus mileage reimbursement.
- Completely flexible scheduling – you provide blackout dates that don’t work for you.
- No weekend commitments—perfect for parents, retirees, or those with another job.
- Paid training included—we set you up for success!
- A role that brings the joy of teaching without the pressures of testing or admin work.
- Marketing support from our team—we provide materials and repeat schools, but your drive to book new schools will determine your schedule.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experienced teacher (classroom experience required).
- Energetic presenter with a big personality and a great sense of humor.
- Self-motivated go-getter who enjoys networking with schools and securing bookings.
- Passionate about making science fun, engaging, and memorable for kids.
"I've never seen kids so excited about earth science! This program makes a huge impact, and I love being part of it." – Former Orbit Earth Expo Teacher
This isn’t your typical teaching job—it's a chance to bring science to life in an unforgettable way!
