Primary Duties:
The Indirect Procurement Business Partner develops, leads, and executes corporate sourcing initiatives and global strategies that deliver measurable value to the business in the areas of supply assurance, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation. This position will develop strategic sourcing solutions through a consultative approach in support of optimizing Spark’s Total Cost of Ownership and drive continuous improvement within the category by delivering creative, value-added business results through superior execution. Performs market, benchmarking, and spend analysis for focused categories. Develops a collaborative relationship with stakeholders ensuring early involvement of Procurement in the sourcing process, optimized negotiations, and compliance with all applicable policies. This is a hybrid role based in Philadelphia, PA reporting to the Indirect Procurement Lead.
Responsibilities
- Develop, communicate, and execute the procurement strategy across assigned categories. Includes comprehensive accountability for strategic sourcing, category management, contract management, risk management, stakeholder management, and supplier relationship management.
- Assigned spend areas within the Indirect space include but are not limited to Research and Development, Commercial, Legal, IT, Human Resources, Product Strategy, Compliance, Finance, Medical Affairs, and Travel.
- Partner with Roche, utilizing the global footprint to leverage the team’s annual spend.
- Lead the procurement activities to support the implementation of indirect strategic sourcing projects. This role will manage the designated category to ensure supply security, drive productivity, and support the continuous improvement and growth agenda of Spark.
- Champion the use of a structured category management process to develop category strategies inclusive of diversity, sustainability, risk assessment, and business continuity.
- Utilize AQSCI (Assurance of Supply, Quality, Service, Cost, and Innovation) method to develop and execute 3–5-year sourcing strategies.
- Effectively manage category supply base, perform advanced negotiations, and ensure expedient and compliant implementation of contracts.
- Ensure excellence in delivery of procurement initiatives that maximize corporate, business, and functional priorities and objectives.
- Improve operational efficiency and optimize spend through the development of a preferred supplier program. Manage compliance of the program.
- Establish an effective, collaborative partnership with internal Business Partners, sharing the ownership and accountability in meeting the agreed upon deliverables.
- Execute sourcing strategies to achieve year over year value improvement.
- Develop effective relationships with key suppliers that builds mutual respect, trust, and drives performance in a manner consistent with the Spark values.
- Lead Supplier Relationship Management efforts and review performance to ensure conformance to supplier goals (quality, delivery, cost); ensure timely resolution of all disputes.
- Monitor financial health of supply base and address risks.
- Manage contracts and suppliers through supplier scorecards, periodic business reviews, active monitoring of supplier performance and risk, measuring contract compliance and other key metrics to ensure targets are being met and value is being delivered to the business.
- Lead multifunctional teams to manage strategic supplier performance to improve execution, establish performance metrics, and drive accountability for service level delivery.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain or equivalent. Procurement certification (e.g., CPSM or CPSD) valued.
- 8-10 years of experience in strategically sourcing target categories.

- Experience in dealing with and negotiating with external suppliers with proven results.
- Understanding of the legal and compliance aspects of sourcing to effectively manage contract development with external partners to maximize value.
- Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or other regulated industry strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in negotiations and management of sourcing agreements required.
- Advanced analytical skills with financial and business acumen.
- Thorough knowledge of sourcing practices, tools, and relevant systems.
- Strategy development and implementation; strong value creation capability.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and strategic influencing skills.
- Solid working knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology, principles, and foundations as well as thorough understanding of the commercial code, legal aspects, and compliance elements related to sourcing.
- Understanding and application of financial principles and software applications (Microsoft Office, ERP systems, etc.)

Salary : $88,500 - $112,000
