Position: Die Repair Technician (2nd / 3rd Shift)

Position Type: Direct Hire, Unionized Plant

Location: Avon, OH

Pay:

• State-certified Journeyman: $38/hour
• Non-journeyman: $36/hour

Shift premiums available:

• 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM): $1.50/hour
• 3rd Shift (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM): $1.00/hour

Position Summary:

Seeking a Die Repair Technician in an automotive stamping environment. This role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting progressive and transfer dies to support production uptime. Some machining and tool work may be involved, but the primary responsibility is keeping production dies running and minimizing downtime in a high-volume manufacturing setting.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform extensive die maintenance such as rebuilding die sections, retrimming pads and forms, and engineering changes on all types of dies.
• Set up and operate machining tools such as lathes, milling machine, blanchard and surface grinder to machine parts and verify conformance of machine parts to specifications.
• Determine specifications for inspection of work, using full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection before, during and after machining.
• Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts and make repairs
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and perform repairs to support production uptime

Position Requirements:

• Journeyman Tool & Die Card preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience considered)
• Experience in die repair, tooling, machining, mold-making, or related manufacturing environments preferred
• Experience with some of the following:
• Surface and wet grinders
• Bridgeport mills
• Lathes
• CNC machining
• EDM experience
• Fixture repair
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in production environments
• Experience with metal stamping and manufacturing processes preferred
• Ability to work on progressive and transfer dies preferred
• Familiarity with press-side tooling support and die maintenance
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications
• Experience using precision measuring tools and gauges
• Basic machining experience (lathe, mill, surface grinding)
• Candidates with varying levels of experience will be considered based on skill set and tooling background
