Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic Surgical Services team. This role is primarily focused on Circulating Nurse responsibilities but also plays an important part in pre-operative preparation, post-operative recovery, and outpatient infusion services.
Position: Surgery RN (Circular focused)
Pay: $34.29-$51.42 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
Sign On Bonus: $3,000
Schedule: Tuesday through Friday (with occasional Mondays) (no weekends, no holidays and no call required)
Requirements
Minimum Required Education/Experience: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited learning institution. Minimum of three years work experience in direct nursing care is preferred.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to complete Tuberculosis testing/screening.
Licenses or Certificates: Valid state license as an RN. Current Basic Life Support/CPR certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support/PALS certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support/ACLS certification (may be obtained at facility)

Key Responsibilities
Circulator Duties
- Serve as the patient advocate during surgical procedures, ensuring safety, dignity, and comfort at all times.
- Prepare the operating room by verifying required equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and scrub personnel to maintain a sterile, efficient, and organized operative environment.
- Accurately document intraoperative care in the electronic health record.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to changes throughout the procedure.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including assessments, education, and pre-operative readiness.
- Recover patients after surgery in accordance with PACU standards, monitoring vital signs, pain, and overall stability.
- Conduct pre-anesthesia screening calls to ensure patient readiness and address questions before the day of surgery.
- Perform weekly outpatient infusions, primarily on Tuesdays, ensuring safe medication administration and patient monitoring.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skill and understanding of nurse role in a surgical setting.
- Advanced skill in patient safety in surgery setting; assume role as patient advocate.
- Advanced skill in clinical judgement, observation, knowledge and assessments with the ability to foresee needs that are essential to the success of the operation/surgery.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and respond to opportunities for improvement through continual learning, changes in approach based on situation and professional practice behavior.
- Ability to operate general office equipment including computer software applications (e-mail, scheduling software, electronic health records, etc.)
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Exhibits professionalism in completing the circulating nurse role.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration.
