Safety And Emergency Response
You'll be at the forefront of safety, acting as a primary first responder to prevent drownings and other injuries inside the recreation facility. Your responsibilities include:
- Ensuring life safety for all patrons within the aquatic area.
- Providing immediate and effective first aid and emergency care when needed.
- Recognizing and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies.
- Continuously monitoring assigned areas.
- Completing safety checks.
- Actively eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
- Following established emergency protocols and demonstrating calm and decisive action during incidents.
- Attend shifts at the following times (4:45am - 9:15am, 9:00am - 2:00pm, 1:45pm - 6:30pm, & 6:15pm - 10:15pm).
- Monitoring and enforcing all safety rules, policies, and procedures with professionalism.
- Actively participating in regular in-service training.
- Resolving customer concerns, troubleshooting, and resolving problems promptly.
- Enforcing rules and regulations in a firm yet courteous manner to ensure a safe, high-quality, and pleasant recreation environment for all patrons.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other lifeguards, staff, members, and guests.
- Age: Must be at least 15 years old.
- Certifications: Must possess or be able to possess and maintain the following American Red Cross Certifications:
- Lifeguard Training (LG)
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The ability to make sound and reasonable choices in difficult situations.
- The capacity to react calmly to stressful situations and help resolve conflicts that may arise.
- Excellent communication skills across all age groups, including the ability to handle complaints effectively and enforce pool regulations firmly while maintaining strong public relations.
Physical Demands & Additional Requirements
- Physical Demands: You must be able to perform the physical demands of the job, including swimming, diving, bending, pulling, and lifting up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position, including working some early mornings, late night, weekends, and holidays.
- Must abide by all city policies and procedures. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with other lifeguards, staff, members, and guests.
- 5:45am - 10:00am
- 10:00am - 2:00pm
- 1:45pm - 6:30pm
- 6:15pm - 10:30pm
- Required: Must be at least 15 years of age and a strong swimmer.
- Certification: Current Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED certification
- No current certification? No problem! We are happy to provide Lifeguard certification training for successful candidates who commit to joining our team.
- Membership to FitCity Spanish Fork.
