Do you speak Spanish fluently and enjoy helping children learn? Spanish Exploradores is adding a part-time instructor to our team for afternoon enrichment programming in West Chester.
Our programs give elementary students an opportunity to experience Spanish in a relaxed, social setting. Instead of focusing solely on worksheets or memorization, teachers use play, conversation, music, movement, storytelling, crafts, and creative activities to help students hear and use the language.
The Role
You will be the lead instructor for an elementary Spanish enrichment program serving students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Leading a group of elementary students through Spanish activities
- Presenting lessons and activities in Spanish
- Introducing new vocabulary through games, demonstrations, stories, and conversation
- Encouraging students to speak and participate
- Establishing clear classroom routines and expectations
- Managing the group in a positive and age-appropriate manner
- Using supplied curriculum and materials to guide instruction
- Setting up and cleaning up teaching materials
- Providing a welcoming experience for children with different levels of Spanish experience
A Strong Candidate Will
- Have excellent Spanish language skills
- Be able to communicate clearly in English
- Enjoy working with children ages 5–11
- Bring enthusiasm and personality into the classroom
- Be comfortable being silly, energetic, and creative when appropriate
- Have experience teaching, tutoring, babysitting, camp counseling, or leading children's activities
- Be dependable and punctual
- Work well without constant supervision
- Have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
A background in Spanish education, elementary education, early childhood education, or a related field is welcome but not required.
Afternoon Schedule
This is a part-time weekday afternoon position based in West Chester, PA.
Teaching hours will generally fall within the after-school window, with the specific schedule determined by the program location and enrollment.
Rate: $50–$70 per hour, depending on experience and performance.
Teachers who are interested in additional work may have opportunities to take on other Spanish Exploradores programs as they become available.
Before You Begin
Because this role involves working with children, selected candidates must be able to provide required background clearances and employment documentation.
CPR/First Aid certification is preferred. Candidates must meet all required safety and training requirements before beginning instruction.
