Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Department: Dietary Department
Essential Employee Position: Must be willing to work weekends, Holidays, and during inclement weather.
Pay Rate: $12.00
Shifts Available: 9:00am- 5:00pm

Summary:
Responsible for the preparation of Breakfast and Lunch for residents and employees according to the planned menu cycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Unlocks the Dietary department by 5:30 a.m. daily. Reads and records freezer and walk-in temperatures and logs it on the Refrigeration Temperature chart, signs name.
- Turns on all equipment.
- Obtains daily Production Sheet from the Dietary office.
- Prepares breakfast and lunch according to the menu. Uses approved, standardized, recipes for Daily Production Sheet.
- Keeps all equipment and work area clean.
- Unloads produce, meat, dry goods, frozen foods, cleaning supplies, and some small equipment.
- Help with the final clean-up for the Dietary department before leaving for the day; sweep and mop floors and empty garbage and following the Daily Cleaning Schedule.
- Keep walk-in cooler and freezer clean and foods stored properly.
- Assist in loading/unloading dish racks when washing dishes and put clean dishes away.
- Turn-in Food Production Sheets to Dietary office at the end of the shift.
- Act as the designee for the Food Service Supervisor during hours when he/she is not present.
- Provide leadership in the event of any safety or unusual incident occurring in the facility and act accordingly.
- Interact with patients in the serving line and offer assistance with meal choices for a balanced, nutritional meal.
- Participate in Dietary departmental meetings.
- Participate in weekly, Dietary related conferences with the Food Service Supervisor
- Comply with established measure for infection control, OSHA regulations and Risk Management.
- Follow all Health Center and departmental policies and procedures.
- Check Production Sheet for foods needing to be prepared for the next day.
- Able to preserve confidentiality as authorized in Spanish Cove policy.
- Comply with the Employee’s Code of Ethics.
- Stay overtime in case of emergency.
- Attend monthly in-service education meetings.
