What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interior Trim Engineer position at SpanIdea Systems?
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, packaging, engineering, and launch of interior components and systems across vehicle programs.
- Develop industry-leading solutions that elevate craftsmanship, functionality, and user experience.
- Work collaboratively with design, marketing, and vehicle engineering teams, prioritizing overall vehicle excellence above individual systems.
- Partner with interior trim suppliers to ensure technical quality, timely delivery, and manufacturability.
- Utilize and refine engineering tools and innovative methods to enhance design and development processes.
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in interior component and system design and development (e.g., hard trim, soft trim, IP, door trims, consoles, headliners, etc.).
- Strong understanding of industry benchmarks, trends, and supplier capabilities within the automotive interiors domain.
- Experience in defining and managing technical product specifications, project timelines, and SOP deliverables.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6 preferred) for creating 2D/3D concepts, layouts, and DFM studies.
- Proven vehicle and product launch experience from development through production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a full vehicle program cycle, from concept through production launch.
- Deep technical knowledge of automotive interiors, with a demonstrated record of technical excellence and program execution.
- Expertise in plastic part design, structural performance, manufacturing technologies, craftsmanship, ergonomics, and safety standards.
- Strong background in materials selection, injection molding, DFM, and GD&T.
- Hands-on, practical approach complemented by solid theoretical knowledge.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong drive to deliver outstanding products in a fast-paced environment. #IT
