• Flexible availability for mostly nights and weekends, including holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years old (required to operate meat-cutting and other job-related equipment)
• Strong communication skills to assist customers, answer questions, and offer recommendations on product choices, preparation, and cooking methods
• A positive, team-oriented attitude and a passion for quality and service
• Physical ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks that involve standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods

Job Title: Meat Clerk

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: 401 Ave Alhambra, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019

Hourly Range: $18.50-$22.00 per Hour, Based on Experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Answers customer questions, directs customers to the items that they are looking for, documents customer requests and listens to customer complaints if General Manager or Assistant Manager is unavailable
• Accurately processes customer transactions via the scale equipment
• Ensures product is rotated, within date, and properly displayed on shelves
• Organizes stock room, freezer
• Cleans cases and shelves, mops and sweeps the meat department floor, stock room and coolers
• Sets up displays
• Operates back room equipment including the pallet jack
• Assists in other duties, as assigned

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:

• Troubleshoots equipment breakdown during shift, reports to GM or AGM
• Keeps store in clean, orderly condition during shift, sees that hazardous conditions are cleaned up
• If a potential shoplifter is identified, uses CB to advise store manager
• Protects safety of self, co-workers, and Spangler’s Market patrons at all times
• Reports safety-related accidents and incident at once to supervisor
• Follows all company and safety policies
• Fulfills sanitation and safety guidelines
• Assists in other duties as assigned
• Attends staff meetings
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong front-facing customer service skills and effective communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team setting.
• Experience in food service or food preparation is a plus but will train.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices a plus but will train.
