We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Auto Body Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive refinishing and a commitment to producing high-quality paint finishes. This role requires expertise in color matching, paint mixing, application techniques, and final finishing. The successful candidate will take pride in delivering exceptional workmanship while maintaining efficiency and adhering to industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for paint by sanding, feather edging, masking, cleaning, and applying primer or sealer as needed.
- Mix and match paint colors using manufacturer specifications and computerized color-matching systems.
- Apply basecoat, clearcoat, and specialty finishes using spray equipment while ensuring a smooth, high-quality finish.
- Inspect completed paintwork for color accuracy, texture, gloss, and overall quality, making corrections as necessary.
- Perform blending, buffing, polishing, and final finishing to achieve seamless repairs.
- Remove and reinstall trim, moldings, mirrors, lights, and other components as required during the refinishing process.
- Maintain spray booths, paint equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Collaborate with body technicians and paint prep staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely vehicle completion.
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety procedures related to paint materials and equipment.
- Stay current on refinishing products, equipment, and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Auto Body Painter or Automotive Refinisher.
- Experience with color matching, paint mixing, blending, and refinishing techniques.
- Knowledge of waterborne and solvent-based paint systems.
- I-CAR, ASE, or other refinishing certifications are a plus.
- Ability to operate spray guns, paint booths, and related refinishing equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced collision repair environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
