About the Role
The Flatbed Specialist is responsible for freight transport using assigned vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, also the loading and unloading flatbeds through physical work and use of equipment.
Position is not supervisory in nature.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for loading and unloading of all inbound and outbound freight to and from the proper destination to include securement.
- Efficient and safe pick-up and delivery of local freight using flatbed truck.
- Attach tags or mark freight with appropriate identifying information.
- Checks specifications of materials loaded or unloaded against information contained in work order.
- Completes and process required paperwork related to customer shipments in a courteous, accurate and timely manner.
- Greets and assists customers in a polite and professional manner.
- Consistently follows all safety procedures and attend safety meetings, as required.
- Performs minor vehicle/equipment inspection, maintenance, and cleaning.
- Performs general warehouse and customer service duties.
- Assists coworkers and departments, as requested.
- Area cleanup.
- Other duties as assigned.

You’re also great at:
- Basic understanding of transportation or freight.
- Ability to adapt easily to frequent changes in the workplace.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to complete all required basic and re-current training.
- Ability to read and understand regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to operate all equipment within the department.
Extra credit if you have:
- Minimum of six months’ experience preferred.
- Ability to work overtime or weekends, as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move up to 200 pounds utilizing proper moving equipment.
- Ability to independently move up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to user proper lifting techniques when needed.
- Ability to do repetitive motions.
- Must be able to sit in a vehicle for long stretches of time.
- Frequent use hands and fingers to feel objects and/or handle tools.
- Frequently stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance on ladders and stairs; stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment where exposure to the elements and exhaust fumes are likely.
- Safety footwear is required.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in the warehouse, outside, in company vehicle and off-site
- May be exposed to adverse weather conditions (cold and heat), wet surfaces and icy conditions
- May be exposed to high noise levels, dirt, dust, fumes, etc.
- May be exposed to hazardous materials
- May be working around stationary and moving vehicles and equipment
- May operate on or around industrial equipment
- Use of personal protective equipment may be required
