What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Analyst position at Spahn & Rose Lumber?
PURPOSE:
This position supports inventory optimization process/tools, along with inventory target-setting processes to improve customer service levels and financial performance for our lumber yards and overall company.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs analysis to assess the adequacy of min/max inventory levels
- Identifies opportunities for reducing inventory levels
- Audits processes and analyzes data (e.g., inventory turns analysis)
- Assists with the resolution of slow-moving inventory and seeks improvements to prevent recurrence
- Troubleshoots any order discrepancies and receiving issues
- Reviews and updates inventory adjustments and errors
- Coordinates, creates, reviews, and processes suggested orders for yards
- Participates in cross-functional projects in developing/enhancing new tools, policies and objectives in the Planning & Distribution area
- Supports various reporting needs as requested or proactively
- Develops relationships with Distribution Center (DC), yards and suppliers to better understand needs
- Assists in inventory buybacks for resets
- Completes other tasks as assigned by Director of Planning and Distribution
QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED):
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related area of study; experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
- Detail-oriented and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and produce & take accountability for high quality work
- Keen problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, solutions-oriented thinking
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis software such as Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Self-motivated with the ability to execute tasks with minimal direction
- Demonstrated organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills for working across departments and with internal/external stakeholders
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working conditions are fast-paced and highly variable. Duties are generally performed in an office environment.

The employee is regularly required to process information through computer system and to communicate with associates and guests using the ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
