SSI is seeking a mission-driven space professional to support the Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP) — a critical joint initiative between the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). SSDP plays a vital role in enhancing the resilience of the National Security Space (NSS) Enterprise by defending U.S. space assets and shaping strategies against emerging threats in the domain of orbital warfare and space control.
This position will support the Space Control Division (SCD) and is ideal for a seasoned systems engineer or program strategist with a passion for space superiority, a deep understanding of DoD and IC mission areas, and a proven track record of cross-functional leadership in high-stakes environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the development of space control strategy, including requirements definition, threat assessments, and capability gap analysis
- Drive technical planning and systems engineering activities in support of orbital warfare and resilient space architectures
- Collaborate with senior leaders across the DoD, IC, acquisition, and analytic communities to align mission needs with technical solutions
- Translate strategic goals into actionable program plans, concepts of operations (CONOPS), and capability development roadmaps
- Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies, threats, and countermeasures in contested space environments
- Contribute to interagency efforts and technical studies aimed at protecting national space capabilities
- 10 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, program management, or operational planning within the DoD and/or IC
- Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering and math
- Subject matter expertise in space control and orbital warfare
- Strong understanding of the NSS mission, operational needs, and defense priorities in contested space environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead and integrate across acquisition, intelligence, and operations communities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including briefing senior leadership and stakeholders
- Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a CI Poly
- Prior involvement with SSDP or similar national-level space resilience initiatives
- Familiarity with current and emerging threat vectors in the space domain
- Experience with advanced modeling, simulation, or mission analysis tools
