Hair Stylist Assistant

Hair Assistant Responsibilities ( Saturday/Sunday)

• Assist hairstylists with daily operations, including preparing clients for services (gowning, shampooing, conditioning, and treatments)
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of styling stations, tools, and equipment
• Prepare and mix color formulations as directed by stylists
• Ensure all tools and products are sanitized and ready for use
• Support stylists during services to ensure a seamless client experience
• Restock hair products and assist with retail display organization
• Stay updated on basic haircare techniques and salon protocols

Duties

• Assist senior stylists with hair styling, coloring, and hair extension applications, including techniques like hair threading and eyelash extensions
• Prepare clients for services by shampooing, conditioning, and setting appointments using salon software such as MINDBODY
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards across all workstations, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe environment
• Support retail sales efforts by recommending hair care products, makeup items, nail care products, and upselling services to clients
• Manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments, greeting clients, and handling inquiries with excellent communication skills
• Assist with store management tasks such as inventory tracking of retail products and organizing supplies
• Mentor new team members on salon procedures, customer service excellence, and technical skills like the use of straight razors or applying hair extensions

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred)
• Prior experience in a spa, salon, or hospitality environment preferred
• Experience assisting hairstylists or basic knowledge of hair services is a plus
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills
• Familiarity with booking software (e.g., Mindbody, Booker, or similar systems) is a plus
• Professional appearance and customer-first mindset
• Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately
• Willingness to learn and grow within the hair and wellness industry
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of hair , beauty and wellness industry.
• Sales experience in promoting services or retail products.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
