POSITION: Mechanic LOCATION: Transportation JOB SUMMARY: The Mechanic will provide efficient, economical vehicle service and repairs ensuring the safe, efficient operating conditions of all school system vehicles and equipment. QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Vocational diploma in Automotive or related field;
2. Minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a mechanic;
3. In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems;
4. Must possess or attain and maintain a valid Georgia commercial driver's license with a "P" and "S" endorsement within 90 days of the hire date;
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to apply critical thinking skills and recommendations in rendering solutions to various issues;
2. Ability to maintain equipment records;
3. Positive job attitude and the ability to work with others;
4. Must have excellent organizational skills;
5. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
