Position Function: The Community Engagement Coordinator recruits, trains, supports, and oversees volunteer opportunities, including wellness initiatives for SVCOA with the goal of supporting clients within our service area.

Essential Functions Include:

1. Recruit, orient and train volunteers to serve older Vermonters, either directly or through contracted partners such as public and private schools, churches, colleges, RSVP, etc.

2. Collaborate with the Communications and Outreach Departments to utilize social media sites, local papers, news guides, SVCOA’s website, etc to market SVCOA’s volunteer opportunities.

3. Manage volunteer or client concerns and communicate larger needs to appropriate departments, program teams or agency leadership.

4. Collect necessary background checks and maintain up-to-date and compliant files on active volunteers with SVCOA.

5. Collect, file and track all volunteer referrals using SVCOA’s ‘Request for Volunteer Services’ process supported by the agency’s service database.

6. Maintain database of contact information on active and non-active volunteers.

7. Implement and coordinate annual volunteer appreciation activities.

8. Collect volunteer timesheets and maintain database of total volunteer hours and clients served.

9. Assist with town funding requests within SVCOA’s planning service area, collaborating with the Communication and Outreach Department for petitions and town meeting events.

10. Support SVCOA’s coordination of, and participation in, various community events, fundraisers, and external initiatives in the communities that the agency serves.

11. Enhance and expand the volunteer participation in wellness programing offered by SVCOA, including Evidence-Based programing within our service planning area.

12. Complete records and program reports as needed for State/Federal reporting.

13. Provide direct service support, training, and technical assistance to local providers as appropriate to improve service capacity.

14. Publicize wellness related materials and activities to SVCOA employees.

15. Create and distribute volunteer descriptions related to SVCOA’s wellness programs.

16. Other duties as assigned by SVCOA Leadership

Volunteer Coordinator Job Requirements:

1. Associate degree preferred with 3 years of experience in volunteer coordination

2. Knowledge of issues related to older Vermonter population and communities while maintaining client directed care and confidentiality

3. Ability to establish partnerships and work cooperatively with a wide variety of people and organizations, independently and as part of a team

4. Experience and ability to recruit, manage and recognize volunteers

5. Highly developed interpersonal, networking and rapport-building skills with boards, community members and volunteers

6. Ability to learn specific volunteer and donor databases

7. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office

8. Excellent written, oral, listening and public speaking communication skills

9. Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the State of Vermont

10. Ability to pass multiple background checks

11. Ability to complete annual HIPAA training as required

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
