Job Description

Job Summary

The Admissions Office at Texas Baptist College and Southwestern Seminary is a dynamic and service-oriented office looking for an experienced individual with a strong commitment to customer service. The Communication Agent assists the Admissions Office guiding applicants through the admissions process, providing them with essential information about academic programs, financial aid, and campus life within a religious context via phone call, text, emails, and excellent customer service. This position actively recruits students to Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as a representative of Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College and its Admissions Office

  • Serves as the first line of contact for prospective students via inbound phone calls, emails, and texts, with excellent communication and customer service.

  • Develops a profound understanding of the admissions process including all degree and non-degree program types and give guidance to prospective students regarding these subjects.

  • Contacts and assist prospective students regarding application status, campaigns for events such as Preview Day, recruiting opportunities, etc.; champions prospective students and their families to begin the application process for full time enrollment at SWBTS/Texas Baptist College.

  • Conducts any special, non-daily activities, including but not limited to processing application materials and conducting call-campaigns.

  • Completes more than 4,000 phone calls in a calendar year, and delivers, manages, or responds to more than 2,500 texts in a recruitment cycle.

  • Collaborates with Director of Admissions to coordinate weekly communication and campaigns designed to engage and advance the admissions funnel

  • Assists with on-campus events including, but not limited to Preview Days, Orientation, SWBTS Graduation, etc.

  • Demonstrates commitment to personal and professional growth in leadership and ministry effectiveness.

  • Handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned and specific to area of responsibility.

Specific Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma is required. Current enrollment at Texas Baptist College or Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is preferred.

  • Experience in enrollment management, recruiting, office coordination, program management preferred.

  • Fluency in bilingual speaking abilities (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Mandarin) is highly sought after.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

  • Strong work ethic and initiative; ability to operate with minimal supervision.

  • Exemplary social skills with an ability to be a part of and contribute to a collaborative team, manage conflicts, and demonstrate love and appreciation for cross-cultural interaction.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly and simply articulate the value propositions of SWBTS, its degree programs, and the specific requirements for completing the application process.

  • Proficiency in admission-related technologies (Microsoft Office); previous experience with data management software (CRM databases) preferred.

  • Evening and weekend work is required during large-scale events and peak Admission seasons.

  • Ability to provide proof of Work Authorization in the U.S. and proof of identity.

  • Successful completion of background check, MVR, and credit check may be required.

  • Requires seminary driving of golf carts or licensed vehicles which require a valid driver’s license and successful clearance of Motor Vehicle Report (Driving Record).

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Office Environment - May be required to reach above shoulder level for organizational tasks (e.g., retrieving files from upper shelves), bend, stoop, or reach to access lower or upper shelves.

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and move about to the office to interact with other staff members.

  • Ability to use a computer and near-visual acuity in reading written documents and statistical data.

  • Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.

  • Ability to traverse campus for meetings and talk to groups while doing so.

  • Moderate Lifting - Occasionally transports 20-30lbs of parts and equipment across short distances by various means (e.g., carrying by hand, cart, golf cart) to accomplish tasks.

  • Ability to withstand the heat and cold of the north Texas climate.
