Description
The Agency Affiliated Counselor position is responsible for assessing the needs of clients and providing individual counseling, support groups, advocacy, and referral services. 75% of the client group for this position will be enrolled in Medicaid.
Essential Functions
- Provide high quality, culturally sensitive, strengths-based mental health services to youth & their families
- Maintain required caseload and meet with clients on a regular basis
- Expected caseload of 20-26 clients at a time with the possibility?of co-leading one group per school year
- Provide counseling services onsite at school or office, or via HIPAA compliant telehealth
- Respond to newly assigned clients within 24 hours
- Perform comprehensive intake assessments and complete required file documentation
- Develop relevant, client-driven, strengths-based treatment plans within 30 days of intake
- Utilize appropriate therapeutic modalities to treat issues of concern
- Provide effective age and culturally competent services
- Maintain treatment records and reports in an accurate and timely manner according to contractual and agency standards
- Maintain confidentiality of records in accordance with HIPAA and other standards
- Work with referral sources, collateral contacts, etc. to enhance services to the client
Other Responsibilities
- Attend case consultation and supervision
- Attend Counseling Center team meetings and other meetings as required
- 100% contract compliance
- Promptly respond to phone calls and other inquiries from the community (schools, other agencies, healthcare providers, etc.) on behalf of the Counseling Center, including requests for counseling.
- Participate in community activities that enhance support for our clients and/or agency
- Maintain current Washington State Department of Health credential.
- Develop a plan for professional development in consultation with supervisor and attend appropriate trainings when possible

Qualifications
- Demonstrate a commitment to equity and social justice.
- Ability to work with diverse groups and cultures
- BA in relevant degrees in Psychology or Social Work
- Bilingual in English & Spanish with the ability to maintain client records in English
- Preferred experience with Medicaid
- Ability to work as a team and independently
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent follow-through and ability to meet deadlines
- Must pass a Washington State Patrol Criminal Background Check
- Valid WA State Driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Clear driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years
- Knowledge and the ability to learn required electronic health record programs.
