Fairbanks Sewer and Water has an opportunity for a College Utilities for a  Operations Support Technician. Reporting to the Superintendent, the Operations Support Technician provides administrative, customer, inventory, and hands-on field support for the Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection departments. This role helps ensure safe, efficient daily operations by coordinating work orders and appointments, maintaining accurate records, supporting customers and contractors, and performing field activities such as meter reading, inspections, and related operational tasks.

Work Hours and Schedule

This position will be based in Fairbanks, AK. Schedule is Monday through Friday.

• Field work including meter reading, disconnect painting, door hangers and other as required.
• Field work including pretreatment inspections and others as required.
• Provide a point of contact for customers, contractors, and Customer Service.
• Purchasing/inventory control including ordering, receiving, checking infreight, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
• Provide support to the Water Distribution Department and Wastewater Collection Department.
• Responsible for performing administrative duties including processing mail,various clerical tasks, fielding calls, data entry, word processing, managing information requests, and maintaining office files.
• Manages weekly timecard reports, review, and revises as necessary.
• Schedule and coordinate contractor and customer appointments.
• Work order system management to include work order generation and close out to ensure accuracy and that all time and materials have been correctly applied.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Experience

• Two years of administrative experience, one year of which dealt with office management development, or was in an office management capacity.

Licenses

• Must possess a valid Alaska State driver's license.

• Knowledge of industry materials.
• A minimum typing speed of 45 words a minute.
• Proficient in the operation of standard office equipment including a personal computer, the Microsoft Office Suite of programs, multi-line phone system, two-way radio, fax machine copier, and scanner.

• The work involves some walking and occasional lifting to approximate a 40-pound box.
• Position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week with hours in excess of 40 per week as needed.
