Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate’s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate’s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.
Adjunct Instructor for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class-A
- Teaching responsibilities and scheduling varies
- Primary duties are to coordinate, administer, manage, and deliver non-credit programs
- Responsible for the recruitment, work-based learning opportunities, and job placement of students into workforce and academic program
- Manages the program advisory board(s) Defines learning objectives, prepares and teaches classes, creates a student-oriented learning environment, and evaluates student learning in assigned courses
- Must be available to teach day, evenings, weekends, and/or on and off-campus classes in person
- Assists in the recruitment, training and support of adjunct instructors within teaching field.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- 5 years non-teaching work experience as a truck driver Possess a current Class A CDL
- Current knowledge of industry issues and practices Current knowledge of DMV/DOT regulations
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and work independently
- Must be able to successfully complete background check
- Associate’s Degree Experience providing technical education in classroom/small group setting.
- Curriculum development experience
