Our Woodbridge location is looking for a dedicated and skilled Echocardiography Technician to join our dynamic cardiovascular care team. In this vital role, you will perform high-quality echocardiographic imaging and diagnostic evaluations to assist cardiologists in diagnosing and managing cardiovascular conditions. Your expertise will contribute to accurate, timely assessments of cardiac function, supporting improved patient outcomes in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment.
What You'll Do
As an Echocardiography Technician at Aligned Cardio/NOVA Cardiovascular Care, you'll play a key role in providing exceptional cardiovascular care by being able to:
- Perform complete and limited transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) using 2D, M-mode, spectral Doppler, color Doppler, and tissue Doppler imaging in accordance with lab protocols and physician orders.
- Review the order and relevant clinical history prior to the exam; tailor the study to the clinical indication (e.g., valvular disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, pericardial disease, post-cardiac event, chemotherapy monitoring).
- Obtain accurate measurements and calculations including chamber dimensions, ejection fraction, wall motion, valve gradients and areas, diastolic parameters, and pulmonary pressures.
- Perform specialized imaging when ordered, including strain/global longitudinal strain, agitated-saline (bubble) studies, and contrast-enhanced imaging using ultrasound enhancing agents (UEA) in accordance with practice policy and scope.
- Optimize image quality and recognize artifacts; repeat or supplement views as needed to ensure a diagnostic study.
- Prepare a technical worksheet or preliminary technical summary for physician review and communicate significant or urgent findings to the interpreting cardiologist promptly.
- Acquire baseline and post-exercise (treadmill) stress echocardiographic images within required time windows; support pharmacologic (dobutamine) stress echo as ordered and in accordance with physician supervision.
- Prepare patients for stress testing, including ECG lead placement, baseline vitals, and explanation of the procedure; assist with monitoring heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure, and symptoms during testing.
- Assist the cardiologist during transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures, including patient and equipment setup, monitoring, image acquisition support, and post-procedure patient care as applicable.
- Recognize patient distress and respond appropriately; maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and participate in emergency response as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Graduate of an accredited cardiac or general sonography program (CAAHEP-accredited preferred), or equivalent formal training in echocardiography, required.
- Active registry credential in adult echocardiography required or obtained within an established timeframe of hire: RDCS (ARDMS), RCS (CCI), or equivalent.
