What are the responsibilities and job description for the Science/Math Teacher - Alternative Education position at Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union?
Duties (include but are not limited to):The science/math teacher will be a general education funded position supporting an alternative education program at Mount Anthony Union High School. Interested applicants should have experience with math and/or science instruction at the secondary level with an interest in supporting students in an alternative/therapeutic environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of multiple content areas of science
- Demonstrate knowledge of Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, the Vermont Proficiency-based Graduation Requirements, and 21st Century learning
- Demonstrate understanding and applications of best practices in teaching and learning in science, as well as the ability to implement proficiency-based lessons and units
- Use assessment information to provide students with feedback, which is corrective and informative
- Enthusiastic, student centered, and committed to educating all students to high standards
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior conducive to an effective learning environment
- Maintain productive lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning both the academic and social progress of all students
- Implement administrative directives in a professional manner (re: new programs and policies)
- Adhere to all District policies and regulations
