TITLE: Production Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma with vocational or trade school training.
- Bachelors in a business or engineering discipline are preferred.
- Plastics Technology training, Scientific Molding principles, or RJG Master Molding certifications are highly desired.
- Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, preferably injection molding.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desired.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts, 5S, and SMED.
- Working knowledge of production planning.
- Working knowledge of engineering resins including polypropylene, nylons (filled/unfilled), PVC, PC/ABS, POM’s, etc.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and procedures based on IATF-16949 standards.
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
- Computer skills required (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be detail-oriented and able to follow verbal/written instructions and procedures.
- Perform problem-solving to develop corrective actions for customer issues.
- Effective conflict resolution techniques and abilities.
Physical Demands:
- May engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and containers.
- May be required to lift up to 55 lbs. occasionally during scheduled shift.
- May be required to stand and walk for prolonged hours.
- Able to kneel, climb as required.
- Able to use both hands to squeeze and clench as needed on the job.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain adequate staff levels, orienting and training associates on specific operations.
- Plans manpower assignments and schedules in support of workload.
- Coordinates workflow with Planning and Customer Service teams.
- Identify raw material needs including regrind requirements and coordinate with the supply warehouse to ensure adequate supply is available.
- Develop and manage plans to limit scrap and rework.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by coaching, educating and directing personnel on the use of all PPE and equipment.
- Accomplish operations results by communicating job expectations to shop floor associates and conducting necessary training.
- Works & coaches shift associates to promote a lean culture using tools such as 5S & SMED.
- Generates accurate shift reports and inputs these into the IQ system on a timely basis.
- Monitors accuracy of IQ Real Time Screen.
- Issues timely work orders for repair and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Reads and maintains a working knowledge of Quality Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Communicate with management and incoming shift supervisor on the status of all jobs/machines during daily production meetings.
