Southwest Texas Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a dependable and motivated Animal Care Attendant to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment while supporting our veterinary staff in delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and monitoring overall well-being
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and hospital facilities through thorough and consistent cleaning protocols
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians as needed, including stepping into a Veterinary Assistant role when required
- Safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Launder bedding, sanitize equipment, and restock supplies
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
- Relay important information about animal health, behavior, and care to veterinary staff and management
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and willing to assist in multiple areas of the hospital
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Professional and respectful communication with management, coworkers, and clients
- Comfortable working with animals and handling physical tasks (lifting, standing, bending)
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in animal care or a veterinary setting is a plus
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and handling
- Experience interacting with clients in a professional and compassionate manner
