Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to drive the company sales growth through customer base expansion and increased orders with existing customers. The Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and market expansion within the rail and transportation sector for a forging manufacturing operation. This role leads strategic account development, customer acquisition, and long-term commercial relationships while aligning closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to deliver technically sound, profitable forging solutions. The Sales Manager will develop and execute sales strategies that support production capacity, margin objectives, and long-term business growth.
Job Duties:
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans focused on forging products for the rail and transportation industry.
- Lead the full sales cycle including prospecting, quoting, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Serve as primary commercial contact for assigned rail accounts and build strong, long-term customer relationships based on trust, performance, and technical capability.
- Coordinate resolution of commercial issues, delivery challenges, and quality escalations.
- Partner with engineering, estimating, quality, and operations teams to develop competitive and profitable forging solutions.
- Support quoting activity including feasibility reviews, cost models, and margin analysis.
- Monitor rail market trends, competitor activity, and customer demand forecasts.
- Identify opportunities for product diversification, capacity utilization, and long-term contracts.
- Meet or exceed annual sales, margin, and growth targets and support pricing strategy and contract negotiations aligned with profitability goals.
- Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and executive updates.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
- 5 years of experience in sales in forging, metal forming, or heavy manufacturing
- Success selling into the rail, transportation, or heavy equipment industries
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forging, casting, or steel processing experience
- Established rail industry customer network
