Objectives of this Role:
- Work within a highly collaborative team to support the design and fabrication of unique, large article pressure vessels used in a variety of subsea or surface applications.
- Be knowledgeable about various quality standards, fabrication methods, tooling, assembly, and requirements and ensure that dimensional/form controls are implemented for various fabrication projects; ASME, ABS, NAVSEA
- Develop and/or implement project controls to ensure requirements and criteria for design, budget, and schedule are maintained.
- Communicate ideas, status, results, and other information to coworkers as well as commercial and government clients.
- Provide interface between division project team and Institute Quality and between customer quality representatives.
- Generate clear, concise reports, presentations, and other supporting documentation of completed work with concluding recommendations.
- Provide other engineering support for Marine Structures and Engineering section projects; CAD, drafting, analysis, testing, etc.
- Generate low and high fidelity CAD models used for design evaluations, FEA purposes, to create fabrication drawings, and communicate conceptual ideas to customers.
- Attend project meetings and develop appropriate procedures and controls to assure that project deliverables are met.
- Research applicable codes, standards, customer driven specifications, and/or internal quality requirements to ensure compliance.
- Generate supporting documentation.
- Interface with project managers, team members, and vendors to identify, plan, and execute project objectives.
- Regularly communicate status, budget, and schedule of ongoing activities.
- Develop tasks and provide guidance for other team members assisting active projects.
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related engineering degree with directly related work experience.
- PE License a plus; Ansys, Pro-E, Solid Works training a plus.
- 2-7 years: Demonstrated mechanical design for manufacturing or fabrication within quality systems such as ISO 9001 or governmental.
- 2-7 years: Use of CAD software to generate detailed fabrication drawings and willingness to learn Creo (Pro-Engineer) if not already proficient.
- 2-7 years: Experience in pressure vessel design, structural testing (e.g. loads, temperatures, pressures, etc.), mechanisms or tooling/fixtures.
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) Pressure Vessels for Human Occupancy (PVHO-1), ABS Rules for Building and Classing Underwater Vehicles, Systems, and Hyperbaric Facilities, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code and/or DNV-GL Rules for Classification of Naval Vessels.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
