Role
Objectives of this Role:
- Work in fast-paced environment effectively in a group and independently with minimal supervision to perform a variety of fire tests.
- Support senior staff with fabrication, sample preparation, and test setups according to test standards, drawings, and written instructions.
- Perform program breakdown, basic equipment maintenance, and cleanup at the conclusion of each test program.
- Work in a safe manner by following safety practices and Environmental Management and Quality Systems.
- Use hand-held tools and power tools.
- Enter data into databases and use PC and PC applications, in particular Microsoft Word and Excel, as required to carry out job assignments.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain test equipment as required.
- Work on multiple tasks productively and effectively in a team or as an individual contributor with limited direct supervision.
- Perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner by following and adhering to safety practices, policies and procedures.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Continuing education, trade school and or experience in construction knowledge is preferred.
- 1-5 years: Able to use hand-held tools and power tools. Basic knowledge of wood, metal and concrete construction practices and materials.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including respiratory equipment, operate forklift and drive Institute vehicles.
- Ability to tolerate work environment with exposure to heat, temperature extremes, noise, fumes and smoke. Able to work at heights on a ladder and/or boom lift.
- Must be dependable, reliable, detail-oriented, self-motivated, team player attitude, exercise good judgment, work safely and have good time management skills.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
