JOB DESCRIPTION FOR SENIOR NUTRITION COOK AIDE
Status: Non-Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act
Code: Z20 Salary Band: C Pay Range: $ 12.10 per hour.
Supervisory Relationships: Directly supervised by the Site Manager. Receives general instructions from the Cook. Position does not have supervisory duties.
Purpose: The purpose of the Senior Nutrition Cook Aide is to assist in the handling, preparation, cooking, serving food for lunch at the Senior Meal Sites in Altus, Hollis, Mangum, Granite, and the carry-out meals in Jackson, Harmon, and Greer counties. The meal meets one third of the daily nutritional requirements.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Prepares foods, salads, and desserts. Cooks or bakes a variety of items.
2. Cleans and prepares foods using tools such as knives, slicers, and peelers and uses equipment such as ovens and steamers. Follows written menus of the Registered Dietitian.
3. Operates dishwasher. Gathers, cleans, stacks, and hand washes or scours pots, pans, dishes, silverware, and other cooking and baking utensils.
4. Removes trash from kitchen and dining area. Sweeps, mops, scrubs kitchen, dining, and storage areas. Cleans bathrooms as assigned.
5. Labels, loads, and delivers trays. Picks up trays after use. Delivers meals as assigned to homebound clients.
6. Defrosts and cleans refrigerators, walk-in coolers, and related equipment.
7. Assists in the ordering of food and related supplies. Purchases some food and supplies locally.
8. Maintains records and reports as required.
9. Other related duties as assigned.

3. Comply with program guidelines. Abides by SOCAG Personnel Policies.
4. Attend training as required. Must maintain any training or certification requirements.
5. Concern for the elderly.
6. Performs tasks in the most efficient manner possible.
7. Must be able to work as part of a team, including volunteers and various trainees.
Qualifications:Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED plus some experience in basic food preparation techniques and operations, knowledge of proper sanitation practices, and basic mathematics.
2. Able to meet local and/or state sanitation rules for working in a kitchen. Able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit, if required.
3. Annual Tuberculin screen is required or as directed by a medical professional.
4. Negative pre-employment drug screen prior to employment with a current photo identification. During employment, employees are subject to drug testing according to SOCAG Personnel Policies.
5. Criminal background checks are required and performed according to Oklahoma statutes and any program regulations.
Working Conditions:
1. Kitchen conditions include standing for long periods, lifting food supplies and large pots and pans, and working in above average temperatures due to the use of commercial ranges and ovens. The ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment is required. Must be able to work with cleaning products.
2. Must be able to interact and relate to elderly in a positive manner.
3. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. The ability to work as part of a team is important.
4. Some travel is necessary for job duties. Oklahoma driver’s license required with acceptable motor vehicle record. Vehicle must have state minimum insurance.
