What are the responsibilities and job description for the SMRMC Full Time 1604-Nurse Manager/Inpatient-6211 Surgery position at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center?
Under general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Surgical Services, the Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable on a 24 hour basis for the management and direction of the OR department and RN staff. The Nurse Manager is directly responsible to the Director of Surgical Services and indirectly responsible to the Chief of Surgery to maintain open direct lines of communication, and a high-level working relationship for the purpose of problem identification and resolution. The Nurse Manager collaborates frequently with the Anesthesia, Surgery Nurse Manager, and staff and administration. The manager represents the OR on appropriate hospital committees. The Nurse Manager is responsible to abide by the policies and procedures of the organization as well as all regulatory agencies DNV, CMS, CLIA, SGNA, AAMI, OSHA, AORN and ASPAN that provide oversight concerning patient care. The manager is responsible for an annual budget that will prepare for any needed equipment, software, supplies, contract, certification, cost of living increases and / or systems purchases needed to maintain efficient operations during the next fiscal year. Additionally, the director is responsible to assist as directed in problem solving by promoting teamwork between administration, staff, physicians, home health, and the hospital-owned outpatient clinics and all other ancillary departments. The Nurse Manager may be called upon to provide information to the faculty and students of affiliated institutions regarding the basic knowledge and techniques of the Operating Room. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, nondefensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, and visitors. Will be responsible to document performance improvement reports, statistical data, and follow-up on variances using QCC format, PI data collection. The successful candidate will have to pass a pharmacology test for this position. Attendance to yearly Mandatory and assigned Healthstream education requirements is nonnegotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions. The employee is responsible for maintaining all certifications and licensure requirements on time.
