What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Lab Assistant 10/2/25 position at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center?
A Medical Lab Assistant /Phlebotomist supports the lab in conducting various laboratory tasks and procedures. The assistant includes preparing and distributing lab test samples through out the lab and assisting with preparing cultures for processing. The phlebotomist is responsible for taking the blood samples from the patients. The phlebotomist will also be trained in the position of Medical Lab Assistant in order to assist with other duties in the lab. Each of these positions must meet certain requirements. Must be able to independently coordinate, plan and utilize time efficiently to prioritize the workload that comes into the laboratory. Must have the ability to show drive and initiative in their work performance. Can be trained to perform specific tasks like instrument maintenance, processing of samples and running quality controls.
