Special Education Paraeducator

The SouthWest Metro Intermediate District #288 has mulitple full-time openings for Special Education Paraeducators district-wide.

Special Education Paraeducators, 7 hours a day for 183 Contract Days.

Efficiently and effectively assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning program in a special education setting while working under the supervision of a supervising teacher. Performs support work assisting students in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical and behavioral goals of special needs students. Works Individually or in small groups.

Job Summary:
Provide support by working directly with students to increase their academic, social/behavioral, communication, and study skills under the direction of the teacher(s).

Qualifications:

• Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 college credits) OR an Associate degree (or higher) OR the successful completion of the Paraeducator training and assessments,
• The ability to obtain the PCA/CFSS certificate.
• Experience working with students with significant disabilities is preferred, but not required.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) required. Training is offered by the school district.
• Must pass a background check.
• Capable of discretion/confidentiality.

Pay & Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $20.54-24.75/hr and based on experience. The opportunity to earn up to $4.80 more per hour when completing continuing education. Benefits are available beginning the first of the month following the date of hire.
