SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting department and ensuring that generally accepted accounting principles, company policies, procedures, and practices are managed to expected standards across all branches, departments, and divisions of the entire organization. The Accounting Manager will also have oversight and accountability for project progress, investigate variances, approve expenses, and ensure project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected.  

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the Month-End Closing and reporting
• Ensure timely payment of the company’s insurance and benefits programs
• Manage the internal accounting database system
• Process and oversee business tax payments as required for all locations, and comply with local, state, and federal government requirements
• Reconcile the Balance Sheet and designated in-house reports, such as the Work in Progress report and the Parts Inventory.
• Assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements and ensure that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards
• Support the Accounts Payable department as needed with posting, bank wires, reporting, etc.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures
• Monitors the creation of project accounts in the accounting system
• Audits project-related records, including contracts and change orders
• Authorize access to project accounts
• Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of the project-related account.s
• Review and approve supplier invoices related to a project
• Review and approve time sheets for work related to a project
• Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project
• Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
• Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
• Confer with receivables staff regarding unpaid contract billings
• Report on project profitability to management
• Report to management on any opportunities for additional billings
• Report to management regarding the remaining funding available for projects
• Support Accounts Receivable as needed with posting payments, customer creations, collections, and respond to requests for more detail from customers, etc.
• Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers
• Works with the Controller to review and receive approval for the write-off of any accounts receivable billings that cannot be billed to or collected from customers
• Close out project accounts upon project completion
• Create and submit government reports and tax returns related to projects
• Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Education/Additional Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related
• 1 to 3 years or more in project accounting, accounting, or related experience required
• Construction background preferred
• Experience with preparing and filing business tax payments, specifically Sales & Use Tax Reporting and Property Tax Reporting in multiple states
• Excellent management and supervisory skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in accounting software
• Proficient in project management software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software with an emphasis on MS Excel

Wage Range DOE: $108k to $122k

Salary : $108,000 - $122,000
